Birstall & Wanlip - November Newsletter |
||||||||||||
|
Welcome to the monthly update for the residents and communities of the Birstall & Wanlip Neighbourhood Policing Area (NPA). This newsletter will be circulated on a regular basis and will provide an insight into what is happening at the NPA.
As you will discern, we have recently been joined by Police Sergeant 4017 John Merola who has replaced Police Sergeant 4210 Sam Flynn who has moved to cover the Shepshed & Shelthorpe Beats. We wish Sergeant Flynn the best of luck and thank them for their contribution to the NL60 - Birstall & Wanlip Local Policing Team and warmly welcome John to the NL60 - Birstall & Wanlip Local Policing Team. Dave and Jon look forward to working alongside John in the future.
ASB (Antisocial Behaviour)
Work is ongoing to address anti-social behaviour (ASB) at the service station. Offenders have been identified and will be visited in the coming weeks as part of targeted enforcement. Patrols in park areas have continued, particularly during the half-term period, to provide reassurance and deter ASB. Collaborative efforts with partner agencies—including schools, housing providers, and management teams—are underway to develop longer-term solutions to recurring issues.
ROAD SAFETY
Road safety remains a top concern raised by residents, particularly around speeding and inconsiderate parking near schools. In response; Our beat officer has completed training on new speed gun equipment, which now includes video capability to capture offending vehicles. Plans are underway to carry out targeted enforcement at locations identified by the community as areas of concern. We continue to work closely with local schools to address parking issues and promote safer drop-off & pick-up practices. We appreciate the community’s ongoing support and feedback as we work together to improve safety for all.
RESIDENTIAL BURGLARIES
There has been a recent decrease in residential burglaries across the area, following proactive measures taken by Charnwood beat teams. Consistent overnight patrols have played a key role in reducing offences and reassuring the local community. However, we are aware of a recent spike in incidents, and officers are actively pursuing enquiries to support ongoing investigations. We are working closely with relevant departments to identify and apprehend those responsible. These efforts reflect our continued commitment to community safety and crime prevention, and we remain focused on maintaining a visible presence and responding swiftly to emerging trends.
